Special developements

To optimize the functions and to protect our roof-mounted pantographs for damage we offer several specialized components.

Our open-loop-system for heavy rail vehicles ensures an uniform contact force of the pantograph on the overhead wire at all speeds. The ADD-system for light rail vehicles ensures that pantographs with damaged contact strips or collector heads are lowered automatically.

In this manner, consequential damage to the overhead wire is reduced to a minimum. Our non-icing system prevents icing of the overhead wires and serves for a secure contact.

Open Loop System for DSA roof-mounted pantographs

In order for the electrical current to be transferred from the catenary wire to the railway vehicle preferably without any interruptions, the pantograph has to work with the same contact force on the catenary wire at all speeds. A minimised force can lead to contact interferences, too much contact force can lead to an increased friction - and therefore, to increased wear.

Non-Icing System

The freezing of catenary wire systems in the area of railway vehicles during the winter months is a recurring problem, given that the formation of ice on the overhead lines interferes with the current consumption via the contact strips. Damages resulting from this can lead to significant costs.

ADD - Automatic Emergency Drop

Damaged pantographs can have significant effects on vehicle operation and result in economic losses in line operation. For example if traction units drive with damaged contact strips, this usually leads to damage to the overhead lines over the distance of several kilometres. Therefore, we developed an automatic emergency drop (automatic dropping device).
